Producer Overview:
Malhadinha Nova is a typical Alentejo family estate situated in Albernoa, a small village ln the heart of 'Baixo' Alentejo. It is a place of freedom and endless horizons. Since 1998, the family’s passion and commitment have transformed a long-abandoned land into fields that give life to genuine, high-quality Alentejo produce. The perfect weather conditions of the Alentejo, the schist-based soils, the well-drained slopes of the property as well as the carefully selected grape varieties - Touriga Nacional, Aragonês, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Miuda, Baga, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah (varieties of red grapes) and Arinto, Roupeiro, Antão Vaz, Alvarinho, Verdelho, Viognier and Petit Manseng (varieties of white grapes) - make up the Terroir of Malhadinha Nova with unique conditions for producing wines with unique character and great quality.
White
The Malhadinha White reveals great intensity and aromatic complexity with white pulp fruits and yellow flowers involved by the oak barrel notes. On the palate is quite balanced with good volume but fresh and elegant. Very persistent.
Red
The Malhadinha Red 2014 shows great aromatic complexity with notes of red and black fruits, spices and quality oak barrel notes. On the palate it´s round and full bodied with good structure supported by a live acidity and silky tannins. Very long finish. Good aging potential.
Imprevisto Unexpected
Harvested manually during the early hours of the morning into 12kg boxes. After selection and sorting the grapes were destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation took place in steel vats at a controlled temperature. On the nose shows exuberant aromas of black cherries, black pepper and an hint of green asparagus. The palate is young and vibrant, with an impressive acidity and a moderate finish.
Monte de Peceguina Red
Grapes were hand picked into 12 Kg boxes and selected at the sorting table. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel lagares with temperature control and traditional maceration and also in tronco-conic vats. Partially aged for 9 months in French oak barrels. Bouquet overwhelmed by ripe fruit, suculent, full of energy and freshness. Beautiful complexity with floral envelopment, slight wooden cosiness that is smoothened by a very well structured body and deeply marked by spices and vegetable notes.
Monte de Peceguina White
Direct and fresh aroma, dominated by orchard fruits and a very slight tropical aroma. Aromatically very intense, shows itself very truthful and straightforward, with the background revealing a hint of flint. Very well tuned, elegante and full of life, tasty run on the palate and slightly dry finish. Brilliant when accompanied by razorfish rice.
